Orphan~ One deprived of some protection or advantage.
When you think of the word orphan you generally think of a child without parents. In the dictionary it is defined as a child who is deprived of parents due to death. We all know that there are many different circumstances that can cause a child to be orphaned, not just death.
I have this tray of beads here in the office that we refer to as the “Orphan Bead Box”. These are beads where we’ve used all but a few of them and there isn’t enough to make an entire piece from them. Over time, we’ve also thrown in small bits of chain leftover. This box grew, until one day I started seeing similar colors melding together in this box. Even though the beads and chain weren’t identical, they were similar enough that just maybe they could become a whole piece again.
And then I had another idea...what if these orphan beads, could come together for a purpose. My family sponsors a local family through @forlifeministries In addition to local family monthly sponsorships, they also help support a ministry (Future Generation International Missions) in Haiti through their Love One Haiti program. For Life Ministries provides support to two missionary families that reside in Haiti and work alongside the ministry partner in their orphanage. I have worked with @forlifeministries for several years now and they were the first organization I thought of when this idea just wouldn’t leave my head.
That’s where you and our Orphan Necklaces come in. With each purchase of an Orphan Necklace, $10 will be given directly to Love One Haiti that provides support for the two missionary families. Our Orphan Necklace will go live on our website tomorrow. Available in 3 colors as of right now, but maybe more soon! We’ll just have to see what ends up in our “Orphan Bead Box” 😉
30” length. Please note each necklace will be unique and no two will be alike.
